Empire Strikes BrassEmpire Strikes Brass (ESB) is a high energy Brass-Funk-Rock band hailing from the city of Asheville, North Carolina. Formed on the streets of their hometown, ESB is rooted in the New Orleans Brass Band tradition of second-line parades and deep moving grooves reminiscent of old school funk. Featuring rich group and strong lead vocals including Grammy Award winner Debrissa McKinney (Secret Agent 23 Skidoo), ESB not only takes its audiences on a ride to the dark side and back instrumentally, they also use the force of soaring melody and lush harmony to transport the listeners to another dimension. The diversity of the music within their sets keep audiences guessing what is next to come. The band is known to regularly parade off stage into the audience leading the crowd in a raucous procession around the venue before, during or after their set.

Love Lives OnDana Fuchs is a Jagger blues-jammer, Otis soul-sister, juke-joint Janis and Sexy Sadie all rolled into one passionate performer and compassionate world class singer-songwriter. If anyone asks Dana to sum up what this new record Love Lives On, the seventh since her 2003 debut, is all about, Fuchs will say, “Hope and redemption.” Classic Rock Magazine finds “her voice dirty and illicit, evoking Joplin, Jagger and a cigarette butt bobbing in a glass of bourbon.” If anyone across the universe doesn’t know Dana Fuchs by now, 2018 is the best time to jump on board her rock-’n’-soul-’n’-rollin’ bandwagon by checking out her upcoming soul-drenched release and catching her captivating, leave-it-all-on-stage world tour to follow.

The new Dana Fuchs album, Love Lives On is set for release on May 18th on Get Along Records.

Lance LopezTexas six string legend Lance Lopez is set to unleash his long-awaited new solo album, Tell The Truth, March 2nd 2018 on Mascot Label Group. Tell The Truth is an autobiographical tour-de-force through the life and times of an archetypal Texas blues legend with all the highs and lows that inevitably accompany this time honored path. Lance Lopez has been on a slow, steady climb up the mountain to the blues rock hall of heavyweights for the last decade, and this album declares his arrival.

Tell The Truth is the record on which Lance Lopez finally defines his solo sound – there’s loads of his famous hard-edged gritty guitars, lovingly parsed and layered throughout, but there’s also a powerful full band sound on every track with throbbing bass lines, sumptuous piano and organ, wicked blues harp, thunderous drums, and Lopez’s industrial strength vocals across the whole of this outstanding songset.

With one foot in the blues, and one foot in rock ’n’ roll, Lopez straddles the divide brilliantly. The soul that he brings to this recipe is the gravy on top, and it makes for a very tasty, satisfying meal. This album is electrifying. It rolls through like a thunderous majestic freight train of truth, pain, and hope.

The Paul DesLauriers Band

Undeniably part of Canada’s musical elite The Paul DesLauriers Band is made up of guitarist and singer Paul DesLauriers and the rhythm section of Greg Morency on bass and Sam Harrisson on drums. They are all regular nominees and winners at the Maple Blues Awards and Quebec Lys Blues Awards as well as Crowned Entertainer of the Year for the second year in a row at the 21st annual Maple Blues Awards held on January 15th 2018 in Toronto, Canada.

These Montreal-based, Canadian Blues veterans blend rock with straight-ahead blues in a way that echoes the vibe of the great power trios from the 60’s and 70’s, yet they take the music to another level via modern stylings and an attack that’s free of clichés. The aural texture of their music changes on a dime from guitar-driven pyrotechnic blazing to a much milder blues boogie with seamless ease. It’s all wondrously peppered with pleasing funky bass lines and a swamp-blues backbeat.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled as they are sure to be coming to a city near you soon.
